Batting Highlights
Gujarat Titans:
• Shubman Gill: Provided the anchor for the innings with a composed 76 to lay a sound foundation for the top order to follow.
• Jos Buttler: Went quickly for his innings, with a brisk 64, in order to give some thrust in the middle overs.
• B Sai Sudharsan: Provided a brisk 48 innings and thus reclaimed the orange cap for his performance.
Sunrisers Hyderabad:
• Abhishek Sharma: He got us off to a great start as he scored a blistering 74 but it was not enough to see us home.
Bowling Review
Gujarat Titans:
• Prasidh Krishna: Had a winning spell with 2 for 19, however he bowled well and could not have done any more.
• Mohammed Siraj: Bowled well with 2 for 33, this only put extra pressure on Sunrisers Hyderabad:
• Jaydev Unadkat: Did appear the best bowler for SRH with 3 for 35 but it was not enough to stop GT.
Tactical Observations
- GT’s Poor Top Order: Despite this, Gill, Buttler and Sudharsan created a sizeable platform scoring 188 runs together.
- The Approach from SRH’s Bowlers: Although Unadkat made an effort, this inconsistency from SRH’s bowlers allowed GT’s top to bat throughout their innings.
Points Table Effect
• Gujarat Titans: With this victory GT now occupies 2nd spot in the table with 14 points, and only behind Mumbai Indians.
• Sunrisers Hyderabad: The dreams of playoffs by SRH are hanging on a thread now and will now have to win all of their remaining matches.
Player of the match
Prasidh Krishna was voted Player of the match for a brilliant bowling performance to help shut down the SRH chase.
Looking Ahead
• Gujarat Titans: Will be looking to keep the good form heading towards playoffs, a good squad with quality depth.
• Sunrisers Hyderabad: they will want to regroup and plan well if they want to remain in the tournament as there can be no more slips.
